Q -1 Name the temples the author has visited in Kathmandu.
Ans -  The two temple the author visited in Kathmandu are the Pashupatinath Temple and the Buddhnath Temple.

Q - The writer says, " All this I wash down with Coca Cola." What does' all this' refer to?
Ans -  When the writer was drinking Coca Cola, he also took a bar of marzipan, a roasted corn- on- cob( with salt, chilli powder and lime) and reads two love comics anda Reader's Digest.

Q - 3What does Vikram Seth compare to the quills of a porcupine ?
Ans -   The author saw a  flute seller, who had many flutes on a pole.The author compares the pole made of bamboo, with an attachment on the top from which fifty to sixty bansuris protrude in all directions, to the quills of the porcupine.

Q - 4 Name five kinds of flutes.
Ans - The five kinds of flutes are the reed neh, the recoder, the Japanese shakuhachi, the deep bansuri of Hindustani  classical music, the clear breathy flutes of South America, and the high- pitched Chinese flutes.

Q - 5  What difference does the author note between the flute seller and the other hawkers ?
Ans -   The Flute seller was very different from the other Hawkers.When he started to play a flute from  his collection, it create nice environment there. The sound  rose clearly above the noise of the traffic and,the hawker's cries. He played slowly, meditatively, without of much display.He did not shout like other hawkers.His music attracted more of customers and he sells his wares in a very casual manners.

Q - 6 What is the belief at Pashupatinath about the end of Kaliyug ?
Ans -  The  author visited two temples of Kathmandu, the first Pashupatinath and then Buddhanath stupa.At Pashupatinath,a small shrine half protrudes from the stone plateform on the river bank.
It is beloved that when the shrine emerges fully, the Goddesses inside will escape, and the evil period of the Kaliyug will end on earth.
